After winning this scholarship, you will get an opportunity to study in Germany. You will also receive a monthly stipend to support your living expenditures, health insurance allowance and some travel grant. The list of benefits provided by DAAD scholarship are as follows:

  • Varying according to the academic level, scholarship applicants can benefit from monthly payments of 850 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates;
  • The payments for health, accident and personal liability insurance is fully covered;
  • Scholarship applicants will also benefit from travel allowance.
  • Both masters and doctoral program students may receive the travel grant

  • Free accommodation inside a university dorm facility

DAAD Scholarships: Development-Related Postgraduate Courses in Germany 2019/2020 Criteria:


  • Candidates fulfill the necessary academic requirements and can be expected to successfully complete a study program in Germany (above-average result for the first academic exam – top performance third, language skills)
  • Candidates have a Bachelor degree (usually a four-year course) in an appropriate subject
  • Candidates have at least two years’ professional experience
  • Candidates can prove their motivation is development-related and be expected to take on social responsibility and initiate and support processes of change in their personal and professional environment after their training/scholarship
  • The last academic degree (usually a Bachelor’s degree) should have been completed no longer than six years previously

  1. Download DAAD scholarship application form and fill it with your credentials
  2. Download Europas Specimen form and make your hand signed CV
  3. Get a hand signed Motivation letter with current occupation referenced
  4. If there is a Research proposal requirement specified by University then provide it
  5. You have to get the Recommendation letter from the university you last attended
  6. Professional experience letter from your last employer
  7. A guarantee letter of re-employment when you will return back to your country after completion of education (Optional)
  8.  English proficiency proof, following tests scores, are acceptable
    – IELTS: Band score requirement can be as per university and program requirement as listed on university websites
    – German language: Mandatory requirement for German taught degree courses
    – TOEFL Institutional is not accepted
  9. Find the degree courses you wish to study in Germany under Daad scholarship and apply directly to the University
  10. After completion of above-stated documents, make sure you also find out what extra documents are required for your desired degree program
